County Finals Here We Come for Footballers!!
2nd Jun 2026
Congratulations to both our boys' and girls' footballers who qualified for next Tuesday's Cumann na mBunscol County Finals in Garvaghey.
It has been a number of years since either of our teams have qualified out of what is a hotly contested section, so this is a great achievement for our children!
See full report below.
The boys and girls of Roan St Patrick's, St Joseph's Galbally, St Patrick's Donaghmore, Gaelscol Aodha Rua, St Mary's Pomeroy and St Mary's Cabragh fought it out today in Eglish in keenly contested group games showcasing excellent skill and sportsmanship throughout.
At the girls' semi-final stage, Roan overcame Galbally in a very tight match whilst Donaghmore defeated Cabragh to make it to the decider.
The final was an excellent game with the Eglish girls getting the vital scores in the second half to progress to the County Finals in Garvaghey next week.
In the boys' semi finals, Roan faced Cabragh with Galbally going up against Donaghmore in what were really excellent games. It was the Eglish and Galbally boys who set-up a re-match after last week's Simon McAleer Final.
The result was reversed this time, however, with Eglish taking the victory in a game in which there were some outstanding scores and passages of play.
Many thanks to referees Marty Devlin and Martin McErlain, Eglish GAC for the use of their facilities, and Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone for arranging the event.
Good luck to Roan St Patrick's in the finals next week.
